History
The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences; FAHSs, was established in 2009 to offer professional training of four bachelor degree programmes in Medical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Technology, and Physical Therapy. It was born out of the Department of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Sciences, which had been launched in 1998. However, the endeavor to set up the FAHSs could be traced back since it was the branched campus of the Srinakarinvirot University at Bangsaen as the Department of Basic Sciences on December 25, 1983. After the university was upgraded to full university level and renamed Burapha University, literally meaning, “University of the East” in 1990, the Department of Basic Sciences still continued to provide teaching preclinical courses for undergraduate students in nursing and physical exercise programmes. In 1998, the Department of Basic Sciences was transferred from the Faculty of Nursing to the Faculty of Science to provide: teaching preclinical courses for various groups of Health Science students, ranged from undergraduate to graduate students, in Medicine, Medical Science, Sport Science, Health Sciences, and Nursing Science; and to conduct research studies in a variety of fields in medical sciences and technologies under the name of “the Department of Medical Sciences.”
The Medical Science department has gradually expanded after a decade of offering a bachelor degree programme in Medical Science. This coupled with accumulative experiences and specialization in teaching preclinical courses and conducting research studies with national and international publications of its graduates, faculties, and staff, as well as the need for more college-trained personnel in health science to serve the development of the eastern region and country, the Department of Medical Sciences was promoted to become the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. FAHSs has been established with the permission from the Burapha University Council since May 29, 2009, and later has been announced by the Royal Thai Government Gazette on July 22, 2009.
In its inception, FAHSs comprises four curriculums, namely 1) Medical Sciences, 2) Biomedical Sciences, 3) Medical Technology, and 4) Physical Therapy. With the main aim to produce graduates who are able to investigate ethiology and mechanism of health problems and diseases, to provide curative treatment, care, rehabilitation and promotion of health of the population, including patients and athletes, the FAHSs would help to train health science professionals in the broad range of skills needed to tackle urgent needs of the country within “The 2008-2012 National Health Plan.”

Location
FAHSs of Burapha University is located at 169, Long-hard Bangsaen Road, Saensuk Subdistrict, Muang District, Chon Buri Province, eastern Thailand, 20131.

Vision:
The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at Burapha University is recognized for innovation and leadership in health sciences education, research and outreach programmes to ensure health and well-being of a population in Thailand and for the contribution it makes internationally.

Mission:

The mission of the FAHSs is to prepare the next generation of humane and highly skill health scientists who are fulfilled with mindfull values, knowledgeable and professional skills that guide their works with commitments and responsiveness through furthering life-long learning, good governance and leadership driving for responsive, excellent,  innovative, quality and equity clinical and community services, and researching in medical science and technology relevant to health needs of the people with national and international reputations. To achieve this mission, the FAHSs will
      1. Educate the undergraduate and postgraduate students in allied health sciences who are striven for intellectual competence, vision, morally and ethically sound and have potential for self-learning and can carry out own research in order to develop the body of knowledge in allied health sciences.
      2. Provide educational programs which will prepare graduates to meet the diverse health needs of Thai population.
      3.  Conduct high quality, nationally recognized programs of research in the biomedical, clinical and health services disciplines.
      4. Encourage and utilize collaboration between institutions and organizations within the national and international levels that will advance knowledge in human health and disease.
      5. Provide community services and strive for academic excellence, based on sufficiency economy principles.
