In 1974, the same year as College of Education in Bangsaen was upgraded to university level and named as Srinakharinwirot University (Bangsaen Campus), Department of Political Science was established within Faculty of Social Sciences.
In 1990, Srinakharinwirot University (Bangsaen Campus), was upgraded to Burapha University, the Political Science Department was then transferred to be under the jurisdiction of Faculty of Humanities and Social
In 2001, Department of Law was established within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
In 2008, Burapha University became an autonomous university according to the University Charter passed by the Parliament. Then, Faculty of Political Science and Law was founded by merging the Departments of Political Science and Law together.
