Bangsean College of Education was first established in 1955 to produce graduates in teaching education. The Health Education section was founded to offer core courses in physical activity and personal health. In 1974 Bangsean College of Education was upgraded to university level and named Srinakharinwirot University,Bangsean. At this time the Health Education section was also upgraded and changed to Health and Physical Education section under the Department of Fundamental Education, Faculty of Education. The Department offered an education degree in physical education in 1976. In 1980, the department was again upgraded to the Faculty of Physical Education and later opened a bachelor of science in physical education in 1982. The graduate program was opened a master’s degree program in Education in 1987.
In 1990 Srinakarinwirot University, Bangsaen campus separated from the main university and Burapha University was created. Some faculties were merged at this point and the Faculty of Physical Education became the Department of Physical Education and Recreation under the Faculty of Education and the Department of Heath Education moved to the Faculty of Public Health. In 1993, the council of Burapha University had approved a master’s degree ( M.Sc.) in Exercise and sport science was also established. On 8 March 2002, the council of Burapha University had established the faculty called the College of Sport Science.

The requirements for studying in the Faculty of Sport Science Undergraduate
The Faculty of Sport Science will accept students to study through a knowledge test from the admission system, which is organized by the Communication of Higher Education. The candidates may also be accepted directly through the Faculty of Sport Science after testing basic knowledge and/or sport ability to study in following areas :
- Eastern student quota project
- The special sport performance project
- Cooperation with province organization
- Diamond of Burapha project
Master degree: A person who wants to study in this program will have had to finish a bachelor degree in physical education, health education, sport science, exercise science, physiology, anatomy, physical therapy, nursing, food science, nutrition, public health, medicine, medical science or any other degree which are agreed by the curriculum board.
Doctoral degree: A candidate with master degree who wants to pursuit their doctoral degree in exercise and sport science will have to graduate in a similar areas as above with one recommendation from a working or institute head of department and two recommendations advisers or lecturers. They must also produce a proposal of research that they plan to undertake as part of their doctoral study.
Entrance Process for Graduate Program
The requirements for acceptance on the graduate program include a panel interview, the supply of documents related to the candidate’s previous experience and academic transcripts.
