Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

Background The
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was first established in 1955 as
the Faculty of Humanistic Studies and Social Sciences of the College of Education,
Bangsaen, the first institution of higher education to be established outside
Bangkok. In 1974, when the college of
Education was upgraded to university status as part of Srinakharinwirot University,
the disciplines of Humanistic Studies and Social Sciences were segregated
into two separate faculties: The Faculty of Humanities, and the Faculty of
Social Sciences. These two faculties,
in 1991, merged again and became the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
when the Bangsaen Campus of Srinakharinwirot was upgraded to be an independent
regional university under the name of Burapha University. Departments
At present, the Faculty has teaching staff
of approximately 100 with student enrollment of 2000 (in both four-year and
two-year continuing programs) in its 12 departments. They are: 1.

Laws Degrees Offered The Faculty
of Humanities and Social Sciences offers three types of study programs at
the undergraduate level. 1. Four-year Regular
Program : for those with a high school diploma or the equivalent who pass
the entrance examination to become first year students, on the condition
that 60 percent of the number of first year students is reserved for students
from the eastern region, and the remainder is for general applicants from
all over the country. The degrees offered in
this type of study program are : B.A.

(Community Development) B.Sc.
(Geo-Informatic Technology) B.Sc.

(Bachelor of Economics) B.A.
(Religions and Philosophy) 2. Four-year Continuing
Program : for those with a diploma from high school, vocational school,
or the equivalent, who pass the university examination. The
degree offered in this type of study program is : B.C.A.
(Bachelor of Communication Arts) 3. Two-Year
Continuing Program : for those with a diploma from vocational schools
who pass the screening examination to study at the University on weekends.
The degrees offered under this type of study program
are : B.B.A. (Accounting)
