Campus Life

         Services and support facilities available to students on campus include cafeterias,
a central library, a computer center, dormitories, a health science center, a post office,
scholarships and student loan service, sport facilities, etc.



The Central Library

The Central Library
The Central Library is an organization supporting the teaching and research activities of
students and academic staffs. There are more than 20,000 library resources available
through the online searching service of the computer network system.

The Computer Center

The Computer Center
The Computer Center is an organization providing computer services for administration
and instruction, including the organization of computer training courses and the provision
of academic services for the general public.

The Health Science
Center


The Health Science Center
The Health Science Center, with a capacity equivalent to that of a 150-bed hospital, is
an organization concentrating on research as well as the provision of health services
for students, university personnel, and the general public. The University, through the
University Hospital which is located on campus, provides medical services round the clock.


The Institute of
Marine Science

The Institute of Marine Science
The Institute of Marine Science is an organization emphasizing research on biological
problems and the cultivation of rare and endangered marine animals. The Marine
Environment Department focuses on the Eastern Seaboard; the Biodiversity Department
on living animals, plants, and micro-organisms in Eastern Seaboard areas; and the Marine
Biotechnology Department on developing living natural products including sustainable
exploitation of natural resources. At present, these are more than 80 completed projects
and many on going ones. Examples are biological studies of sea horses, butterfly fish,
and damselfish. There are also projects focusing on biologically active substances from
bacteria and marine invertebrates.



The Academic Services

The Academic Services Center
The Academic Services Center (Uniserv) is an organization open to the public that links
academic staff to people and social organizations external to the university. It provides
academic services in many different fields with a large variety of course arrangements.





Art and Culture Preservation
Art and Culture Preservation
The University' s Arts and Culture Institute is an organization focusing on maintenance,
preservation, and promotion of Thai arts and culture. Various kinds of activities are held
within and outside the country. A Thai classical music contest for primary and secondary
schools in the eastern region is held each year, with winners receiving the Princess
Sirindhorn Trophy.



 

Scholarships and Loan Service
There are numerous scholarships available for students in various programs of study
with funds ranging from 2,000 to 36,000 baht. The Government student loan service
is also available to students who have financial difficulties.

Student Activities
The University supports a variety of student activities. Activities are sponsored and
coordinated by the Student Council through various clubs, such as the English Club,
Football Club, Aquaculture Club, Nature Conservation and Environmental Club, etc.

Sports Facilities
The University subscribes to the maxim : "a sound mind in a sound body." Sports
facilities for football, basketball, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, etc. are therefore
provided for students and faculty members.

Dormitories
There are 11 women's dormitories and 4 men's dormitories on campus with rooms
accommodating a total of 1,500 students (400 men, 1,100 women). All freshmen
are given priority for dorm space.

Cafeterias
There are numerous cafeterias situated in different buildings, as well as a central
cafeteria, to provide food services for students. All meals and dining facilities are
under university supervision to ensure cleanliness and fair pricing.

Post Office
There is a Post Office located on campus at the Administrative Building serving to
students and faculty during normal government office hours (weekdays 08.30-16.30 hrs).

Other Services.
Banking facilities such as ATM are available on campus. Payment of University fees
can be made electronically through this machine. Other services including health
insurance and travel services are also provided.

Research
Research is one of the primary responsibilities of the University. Burapha University
realizes its importance as a center for generating and disseminating knowledge,
information, and data necessary for the development of the country. The University
makes great efforts to support personnel in the conducting of research through budget
allotments from the government, the University's own income, and assistance from various
organizations. The University has established a center for research promotion in the
Educational Services Division.

International Cooperation
Burapha University has special cooperative programs with various universities outside
Thailand such as Victoria University of Technology and Curtin University of Technology
in Australia, Porto University in Portugal, Chungnam National University and Hankuk
University in the Republic of Korea, The University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh
City and Vietnam National University in Vietnam, Brock University in Canada, New York
University and Northern Illinois University in the United States, and the University de
Paris XIII in France.

Student Welfare
The University makes available various kinds of services for the welfare of its students.
It provides dormitories for about 45% of undergraduate and graduate students,
with an aim to maintain these dormitories as both residential and learning centers.
Accident insurance and health insurance are provided for the students. Also, as many
as 700 scholarships are provided each year. Finally, government educational loans are
allocated to about 3,000 students.
